Palliative care is available to anyone suffering from a serious illness, regardless of age or type of illness.

Palliative care might be right for you if:

  • You are suffering from one or more serious illnesses
  • Your symptoms impact your quality of life and are preventing you from being as active as you’d like (symptoms such as pain, discomfort, shortness of breath, constipation, fatigue, anxiety, nausea, depression, etc.)
  • You’ve had frequent emergency room visits or multiple hospital admissions within 12 months
  • You’d like help knowing what to expect, what resources are available, matching your care to your goals, or understanding the pros and cons of various treatments
  • You desire emotional and/or spiritual support, help coping with the stress of your illness, or help communicating with family and loved ones about your illness

How is Palliative Care Paid For?

Palliative care services may be covered entirely or in part by Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, HMOs, or managed care programs.

Beloit Health System Palliative care will bill Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance for the services provided.

Patients will be responsible for applicable co-payments and deductibles, as routinely applied by their health insurance carrier.

No patient will be denied services based on inability to pay.
